Shion-iro

A color name taken from the name of the Tatarian aster (shion) flower, and its hue seems to be vague. It is a color dyed many times in a dye bath of purple gromwell. Because the aster flower is pale purple, from the Heian period onward the name apparently sometimes referred to pale purple as well.
