Kuri-ume

A slightly dull reddish brown. It is a duller shade than the colors that chestnuts or plums bring to mind. It was apparently popular in the Genbun era under the eighth shogun Yoshimune, in the mid-Edo period. It was a fashionable color of a time when restrictions on luxury had become strict.
