Wisteria (Fujiiro)

#A7A9CC

This color name is taken from the wisteria flower, which is a light purple. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the color most loved by Japanese women. There are many variations, such as blue wisteria, light wisteria, and white wisteria. The wisteria flower and wisteria color were loved by the aristocrats of the Heian period (794-1185), and the Pillow Book of the Kamakura period (1185-1333) includes a romantic account of a woman delivering a love note wrapped in a wisteria flower. Murasaki Shikibu was called Wisteria Shikibu during her lifetime.
