Red

It is registered in the JIS standard as the reddest red color with Munsell value (5 R 4/14). At the same time, red is also used as a generic term for scarlet, crimson, vermilion, and brown. The vivid red seen in the wisteria trees of decorative ancient tombs and Yoshinogari in Japan, the red that Hindus wear on their foreheads, the red of murals by North American Indians, and the red of tombstones of the Sicán civilization in South America are all thought to have shared a common meaning as a sacred color to ward off evil. Red is an energizing color, as the color of life and emotion.
