Koji-iro

The color of the peel of koji. Koji is the Unshu mikan (satsuma mandarin), or its ancestor. The reading changed from "kanshi" or "kanji" to "koji." It is a color name in use since the Heian period. In the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), it is defined as slightly brighter than Mikan-iro. Munsell value of Mikan-iro: 6YR 6.5/13. Munsell value of Koji-iro: 5.5YR 7.5/9.
