Gofun-iro

Gofun is a white paint made from powdered seashells. In ancient China, white pigment was refined using lead. It is called gofun, meaning powder brought over from Hu (the foreign lands to the west), but lead poisoning became a problem, and shells such as oyster shells came to be used instead.
