Bengara-iro (Ben-Gara-iro)

#732A1E

This color is colored with red clay from the Bengal region of India (present-day Bangladesh) as a pigment, and is said to have been introduced during the Warring States period through the Nanban trade. Pure Bengal reddish-brown pigment is hard to find, and many bengara colors are made by firing domestic clay. It is considered to be more yellowish than suho and lighter than steeple color.
