Tokiiro (color of crested ibis)

#ECA5B2

The pale pink of the crested ibis's windbreaking feathers. In the Edo period, it was called tokiha-iro (鴇羽色). Like the color of nadeko, it is an essential color for young people's outfits, giving them a sense of youth and gentleness. The crested ibis was seen in many parts of Japan during the Edo period, and although it was designated a special natural treasure during the Showa period (1926-1989), the Japanese crested ibis became extinct in 2003. Since then, artificial breeding of Chinese bustards has been successful, and as of November 2019, there are approximately 400 bustards in Japan on Sado Island. Its scientific name is Nipponia nippon. We hope that the breeding of bustards and the use of their colors will be passed on from the scientific name.
