Negishi-iro

The color of earthen walls finished with wall clay taken from Negishi, located in what is now Taito Ward, Tokyo. Negishi was also famous as a village of Japanese bush warblers, and Negishi-iro has a hint of Uguisu-iro. The JR station name "Uguisudani" is a remnant of this. In the Edo period, subdued tones were considered "iki" (stylish), and there were also colors called Nezumi-negishi and Cha-negishi.
