Huang Tan (Ouni)

The color is slightly lighter than persimmon color. Both koutan and kakishiro are registered in the JIS standard. Kitan is an orange color dyed with safflower and gardenia (keshi, or gardenia), and is used for the ceremonial dress of the Crown Prince. In ancient times, it was the second most forbidden color after kohazome, the color of the emperor's robe. The name "kuchinashi" comes from the fact that the fruit of the gardenia does not split open when ripe.
