Oni

#E47353

A color slightly brighter than Kaki-iro. Both Oni and Kaki-iro are registered in the JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards). Oni is an orange dyed with safflower and gardenia (kuchinashi), and it is used for the ceremonial robes of the Crown Prince. In the past, it was a forbidden color second only to Korozen, the color of the emperor's robe. It is said that the gardenia got the name "kuchinashi" (without a mouth) because its fruit does not split open even when ripe.
