Experts on the "Now" of Paint & Coating: A Guide to JPMA's "2026 Paint & Coating Industry Trends Seminar"

広告

The colors of paints and coatings shape the very landscape of our daily lives. From building exteriors and industrial products to everyday household items, it is paint and coating technology that delivers their color and texture. In this article, we introduce the "2026 Paint & Coating Industry Trends Seminar", hosted by industry organizations including the Japan Paint Manufacturers Association (JPMA), from the perspective of studying color.

Seminar Overview

Held annually, this seminar features reports from three organizations representing distinct roles—manufacturing, paint sales, and coating application—each sharing the latest trends in the paint and coating industry from its own vantage point. It is an open forum welcoming not only industry insiders but also professionals across the paint industry and members of the general public.

📝 Note

The event is organized by the Paint & Coating Promotion Committee (member organizations: the Japan Paint Manufacturers Association, the Japan Paint Trade Association, and the Japan Painting Contractors Association). A defining feature of this seminar is the chance to hear all three industry perspectives in a single session.

Program Highlights

The program consists of three lectures that examine the industry from multiple angles.

  1. Paint Demand Trends in Japan and Worldwide (approx. 60 min) / Yoshio Kojima, Executive Director, Japan Paint Manufacturers Association
  2. The Current State of the Paint Sales Business and Future Initiatives (approx. 30 min) / Naoshi Furukawa, Executive Director, Japan Paint Trade Association
  3. The Current State of Architectural Painting and Future Initiatives (approx. 40 min) / Ken Igarashi, Executive Director, Japan Painting Contractors Association

From the macro view of demand trends to the on-the-ground realities of sales and architectural painting, the lineup offers a complete picture of the industry—from upstream to downstream.

📌 Key Point

The heart of this seminar is the opportunity to understand the full flow of "creating, selling, and applying color" in the words of specialists in each field. When working with color, knowing the background of materials and application broadens your range of expression.

Who Should Attend

  • Those who want to grasp the latest demand trends in the paint and coating industry
  • Those who work with coloring materials (paints) in architecture or product design
  • Those who want to deepen their knowledge of color by connecting it to the practical work of materials and application
  • Those who want to learn the broader currents of the industry backed by objective data
💡 Tip

Studying color not only as "design" but also from the perspective of "material" deepens your understanding of how color actually appears and how durable it is. Coating is one of the most representative real-world settings where color is implemented in society.
