This blue is dyed with dewdrops. Dewdrops are small blue-purple flowers that bloom in summer and are a typical Japanese blue flower. The oldest dyeing in Japan is thought to have been done with dewdrops. The flower juice of dewdrops is easily faded, so they are used to make the underpainting for yuzen dyeing.
