Tsuyukusa-iro

A blue dyed with Asiatic dayflowers. The Asiatic dayflower is a small bluish-purple flower that blooms in summer, and it can be called a representative blue flower of Japan. Dyeing with dayflowers is thought to be the oldest form of dyeing in Japan. Because the juice of the dayflower fades easily, it is used for drawing the underdrawings for Yuzen dyeing.
