Shobu-iro

A vivid purple derived from the Japanese iris (hanashobu). As a play on shobu (尚武, esteem for martial spirit), it was also used as a clothing color for the Boys' Festival (Tango no Sekku). It is a representative purple of summer. Ayame-iro, which is written with the same characters and is also registered in JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), is a reddish purple.
