Nadeshiko-iro

A pale red like the color of nadeshiko (fringed pink) flowers. Nadeshiko blooms in summer, from June to September. The name apparently means a being cherished like a child one strokes lovingly. It is also counted among the Seven Flowers of Autumn. To distinguish it from "Kara-nadeshiko" (sekichiku, China pink), which came from China, it is also called "Yamato-nadeshiko." "Yamato-nadeshiko" has also become a byword praising the virtues of Japanese women, who are delicate and sensitive yet strong at heart.
