Momo-iro

The color of peach blossoms, slightly more vivid than Kobai-iro. In Japan, it is an essential color for the Joshi no Sekku (the Doll Festival, or Hinamatsuri). "Peach" refers to the color of the peach fruit. In China, the peach is a symbol of longevity, and the peach tree was regarded as a charm against evil. "A fisherman wandered into a deep valley, and beyond a grove of peach blossoms, he found people who had fled war living without a calendar, in lives full of peace and joy." This is the so-called "Togenkyo" (Peach Blossom Land) that appears in Tao Yuanming's The Peach Blossom Spring. The color of peaches carries an image of drowsy happiness.
