1-pound dyeing

This color is considered to be the color when 1 loaf of safflower (1 loaf = 560g) is used to dye 1 silk roll (1 silk roll = 2 反). It is more vivid than cherry blossom color, but has a gentle hue. Usually 20 loaves were used for BENI Dyeing, but it was forbidden in the Heian period (794-1185), partly because it was expensive.
